Our client, IFAW, is founded in 1969 in Canada. The International Fund for Animal Welfare saves individual animals, animal populations and habitats all over the world. With projects in more than 40 countries, IFAW provides hands-on assistance to animals in need, whether it's dogs and cats, wildlife and livestock or rescuing animals in the wake of disasters. IFAW also advocates saving populations from cruelty and depletion, such as their campaign to end commercial whaling and seal hunts.
Due to the increase of secured funding projects, IFAW is in need of a Project and Finance Officer to reinforce the EU Financial Service Center in The Hague.
Project and Finance Officer
part time, 20 - 24 hours
As a Project and Finance Officer you contribute to the financial and administrative support to secured funding projects, as well as supporting the day to day financial operations of the EU Financial Service Center. This means reviewing funding proposals, managing project finances in preparation to project audit, and liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the prescribed administrative methods and requirements are handled according to law and regulations (compliant). You will also provide financial administrative support to four IFAW Offices in Europe in close coordination/ cooperation with the Finance Manager located in The Hague, and with the IFAW Controller and Finance staff located at the International Operations Center in the US. The challenge in this function is to switch between operational accounting, audit and control activities and serve as lead for financial tracking and financial reporting for restricted funds, grants and subcontracts, partnering with project team members from Development, Programs and Operations located on different continents.
We are looking for a part time employee who preferably has experience in a non-profit/ charity sector in a similar finance function. It’s important that you can work independently in an accurate manner without losing your inventiveness. You can easily switch between the different roles and cultures within the organization. You can collaborate with, advise and activate your international colleagues with diverse backgrounds. Since this is a new position there is room for initiative and shaping the function to your own insight.
